Neonatology Department

High risk babies are cared for by multi disciplinary teams. The team is headed by neonatologist, additional specialists from fields such as cardiology, neurology, neuro surgery, opthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, physiotherapy, and registered nurses who are specially trained to care for the new born.

Levlel 3 Care : In this level critically sick infants are admitted who requires
> A machine to help them breath( mechanical ventilation )
> Surfactant replacement therapy for HMD
> Whole body cooling for brain injuries
> Exchange transfusion
> CPAP
> Requires precise fluid delivery

Level 2 Care : This level includes care of babies recovering from illness or care of babies who require close monitoring like providing supplemental oxygen for respiratory distress, phototherapy for neonatal jaundice etc.

Isolation Unit : Babies with severe sepsis are catered who require strict infection control measures.

Rooming in unit : Infants and their mothers are given a chance to bond together prior to discharge. Kangaroo mother care, lactation counselling re done here. The mothers are helped to manage their babies confidently before discharge and trained to attend the special needs of their infant new born.
