Sterilization plays a vital role in patient safety and reducing the hospital’s risk of surgical infection. It is the “backbone” of which Surgical Services relies to keep the Operating Room going. Instruments must be reliable and sterile to protect both the patients on whom they are used, and the employees who handle and process them. Emerging infectious diseases, such as infectious prions, and the development of more complex instruments for use in minimally invasive surgery have resulted in more cleaning and disinfection challenges. The success of a procedure depends on the availability of clean, reliable instruments that are inspected and assembled, packaged and sterilized according to validated processes and available in a timely manner.

We are using the most Modern sterilization technology, PLASMA sterilization ( STERRAD ) in our CSSD department
